Benign essential blepharospasm (BEB) is a movement disorder or “dystonia”. Other dystonias include Parkinson’s disease and writer’s cramp. People with BEB have frequent, uncontrollable blinking and squeezing of the eyes. Sometimes their eyes will snap shut and they have difficulty opening them again. Almost all BEB sufferers have light sensitivity.
